9 RULES FOR COACHING SUCCESS
After more than ten years of coaching, one truth stands out clearly:
The difference between those who create remarkable, lasting breakthroughs and those who fall short is not talent, intelligence, or willpower. It is how they approach the process.
Some people show up and hope for results to appear magically. Others arrive ready to engage, reflect, experiment, and grow, even when the journey gets tough. Over time, I have observed the mindset, behaviours, and habits that lead to outstanding transformations.
To help you avoid frustration and failure, I have summarised these observations into nine key rules. It is a simple guide to maximise the benefits of our work together. Whether you are already in coaching or preparing to begin, these rules will help you fast-track your results and lay a strong foundation for sustainable health and vitality.
1. Trust in the Process
Transformation takes effort. But effort without trust burns out quickly. If you want results, you must show up with 100% – not just once, but continuously. Trust in your coach, trust in the framework, and most importantly, trust in yourself.
2. Give the Process Time
Whatever you are struggling with – chronic fatigue, pain, stress – it likely did not develop overnight. And neither will it disappear overnight. Be patient. Transformation takes time, but the results are worth it.
3. Be Disciplined and Put in the Work
Your coach can tell you what to do. He can tell you how to do it. But YOU are the one who has to put in the work.
Your coach can only guide you on your path, but you have to walk it. Show up. Be consistent. Nobody can do it for you.
4. Pull Everything Out of Your Coach
Curious people get results. Ask questions. Engage deeply. Use the coaching to its fullest. It is your opportunity to gain insight, perspective, and guidance.
5. Keep a Journal
A journal is more than a notebook. It is an awareness tool. It helps you see the broader picture, notice patterns, track shifts, and reflect on what does and does not work for you.
Bring your observations to your sessions and let your questions evolve from your lived experience.
6. Do not Work and Analyse at the Same Time
Ever feel stuck because you are overthinking everything? That is paralysis by analysis. When you’re in practice, just do the work to the best of your abilities. Give it some time and reflect on it later.
7. Consider Everything an Experiment
Rigid expectations kill progress. Instead, approach this journey with curiosity. Keep an open mind. What works for one person might not work for you, and what worked for you yesterday might not work tomorrow again – and that’s okay. Be willing to test, learn, and adapt.
8. Educate Yourself
Knowledge is empowerment. The more you understand your body, your mind, and the interconnected systems influencing your health, the more effectively you can navigate your path. Research, stay curious. Own your learning process.
9. Enjoy the Process
Transformation requires effort, and the greatest growth lies behind the scariest obstacles. But it is the difficulty that gives value and allows you to grow.
Embrace the challenges, celebrate your wins, and enjoy the ride.
